Safflower – Seeds

Safflower – Hong hua – Seeds Carthamus tinctorius

Out of stock

Just like Calendula and some of the Thistles, collecting the herb means collecting the petals.
Now, it does seem a little macabre, kneeling in the garden pulling the petals from your flowers, but once dry and ready for use, the herb is invaluable.
Plant Spring and Summer and in some climates you can get two crops a year.

Tincture is great to add to creams for the proper healing of bruises and sprains, but the petals are also very edible and can be used to colour foods such as rice in place of Saffron as well as Ice Cream and drinks.
