Probably more at home in the Chinese Matera Medica, this gorgeous Iridaceae is a wonderful addition to any garden.
Native from China to Laos it is an ancient remedy for ailments of the Upper Respiratory tract, being used in cases where excess phlegm is the indicator.
It has a special affinity with the lungs and liver but caution must be used in it’s application due to the presence of poisonous compounds within the plant.
It grows well and quickly from seed with a high germination rate.
It is easy to care for and only requires a well drained, mostly sunny location to do it’s best.
