Japanese Chocolate Vine.
Often purchased by mistake this beautiful climber has nothing to do with chocolate, chocolate scent or desert.
It’s fruit is edible, quite delicious and has a sweet slightly vanilla taste.
It climbs well and needs little encouragement but it tends to ‘do it’s own thing’ and persistent attempts at training are met with the same response as a petulant teenager.
We have them climbing through fences that were not attractive and now the living fences are beautiful.
It is absolutely necessary to have more than one vine to produce fruit but if you just want to enjoy the flowers and possibly use the leaf and stem for traditional Japanese or Chinese medicine, then one vine will be enough.
Seeds are hard coat and will need to be scarified.
10 Seeds per packet.
